Haze

You could be forgiven for thinking that hailing the forthcoming war game Haze as one of the best games of the year might be ill-advised after a controversial period for games featuring graphic violence.

However, Haze may be the game to win back some respect for the industry after the uproar surrounding the Manhunt 2 ban, Manchester Cathedral scenes and the Jamie Bulger CCTV footage in Law and Order: Double or Nothing.

The game makers have thought hard about how to make the player aware of the horrors of battle and the consequences of their actions, as well as the propaganda and corruption of wartime.

Your soldier is given a drug which heightens his senses but also clouds his perception of the ugly side of warfare. However, when the drug wears off, things change for the worse...
