It all depends on what you will use the camera for (and your price range).

Me, for example : I wanted to take a lot of Landscape shots, but wanted something quick and easy to use, that's also thin for when I go out drinking. (need evidence)

So I was williing to spend around £100-£200, mine is an Olympus FE-290. 8 MP, which isn't bad.

You are better going to a professional camera shop (independent if poss), just to get some advice. I'd stay away from big name shops, that are after every sale.
