Me and the missus are thinking about getting ourselves a Digital Camera and we were wondering what you all thought of them,are they as good as folks say? In your opinion what would be the best megapixel to get as a starting camera?

Not really sure, dont want to spend too much. Just trying to get peoples opinionms on what is the best level of camera to start with ie how many megapixels. What else do I need to look for?
