Manga and Anime

ive been wondering this for quite some time, and i may sound very thick but whats the difference?

I think Manga is in book format but Anime is animated, but I don't read/watch either so I am not sure...

Manga is like a book version of a cartoon like, Naurto, Anime is animetad, like Simpsons or One Piece, something like that
