Boy, 11, bailed after toddler attack

An eleven-year-old boy, arrested in connection with an attack on a four-year-old, has been released on bail.

Police are hoping to question the toddler who suffered a fractured skull when he was smashed over the head with a brick.

Charlie Davis had to have an ear reconstructed after part of it was torn during the attack.
He has been in hospital since Thursday when he was found in a pool of blood on wasteland near to his home in Hessle, Hull.

Humberside Police said last night an 11-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of assault but was later released on bail until mid-September pending further inquiries. A police spokeswoman said: "Police hope to be able to take a statement and get a full account of the incident from the four-year-old victim some time today, so long as he's able to speak to us."

She stressed there was no evidence at this stage to back up reports that he had been dragged 200 yards by his attacker and then tied to a tree.

The injuries Charlie suffered in the attack included a fracture to the lower base of his skull and cartilage damage to his ear.

Earlier, Humberside Police said in a statement: "It is currently unclear how the child got to the area.

"He may have gone of his own accord, he might have been chased there or he may have been taken by someone against his will.

"At this stage police do not know what happened and are keeping an open mind."
Charlie's family told a newspaper that he was dragged away while playing with friends near his home in Danes Drive, Hessle.

He was found in a pool of blood by a couple, they said. Part of an ear was hanging off.
Officers said the incident happened at 11.45am on Thursday in an area of grass and trees between the estate where Charlie lived and a railway line overlooked by the Humber Bridge.

It really does make you wonder what things are coming too, when an 11 year old child can attack a 4year old child with that, or any other kind of violence

totally agree rocol, if found guilty he should be put away not just given a slap on the wrist and told "dont do it again"

Totally agree with everyone but what the betting he does just get a slap on the wrist for it,they wont put him in prison for that,if they dont that will just suck omg it makes me sooooo mad
