Boy treated after Red Bull binge

A teenager was taken to hospital in Darlington after drinking eight cans of energy drink Red Bull.
The 15-year-old, a pupil at Hummersknott Comprehensive School, suffered heart palpitations, according to paramedics.

He was treated at the Memorial Hospital following the 14 February incident, details of which have just emerged.

A Red Bull spokesman recommended only one to two cans of the energy drink for "optimum effect".

Some of the ingredients of these energy drinks are very dangerous... I had one once right before I was playing late night basketball and for the entire night I felt like I was coughing up blood and couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. I didn't cough up blood but it sure tasted as if I were and my chest was killing me. Never again will I do that...
