Google sees profits soar

Internet search engine Google is celebrating a bumper 92 per cent profits rise.

Third quarter profits soared to £390 million compared with the £202 million figure from the same period last year.

The company has just tied up an £850 million deal to scoop up video sharing website YouTube.

Websurfers have made the site one of the world's most popular online destinations with an estimated 100 million video clips viewed every day.

But while YouTube has drawn big crowds it has yet to prove it can generate profits and Google is keen to maximise the untapped potential.

Just shows how much money can be made through the web,companys like this should share there profits towards wanted charities imo.

they should give 50% of that with charties....but after the buyin of youtube, rumour has it that google sold the founders of youtube over $1bn in shares, which are unsaleable, so if they go down, it' be worth notihn
