Mother denied daughter's organs

Quote:
A mother who urgently needs a kidney transplant has been denied the organs of her dying daughter.

Laura Ashworth, 21, from Bierley, near Bradford, West Yorkshire, died on 2 April, two days after an asthma attack.

Her mother Rachel Leake, 39, who has kidney failure, was at her bedside when she died at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

But Ms Ashworth's kidneys were given to strangers despite her personal wish to help her mother as she had not registered as a "living donor".
BBC NEWS | England | Bradford | Mother denied daughter's organs

I can see both sides of this story, the people that make the decision on who gets the organs have a strict policy that they adhere to its takes into account the patients condition and their suitability for the organs but I can also see the mums side especially as her daughter had discussed about becoming a living donor.

I can also see both sides but the right thing to do is adhere to the rules or the complete system would be put into chaos.

Couldnt agree more Crystal, its one of those "if only" cases. If only her daughter had registered as a live donor!!

IMO organs should go to next of kin, if the blood type matches

Its not just whether there is a match or not, they need to take into account the clinical condition of the recipient as well as other factors
