Octopus surprises scientists

A giant Pacific octopus has shown himself to be quite the brainbox after he opened a complex perspex safe to get at the food inside.

Squirt worked out how to unscrew jars and open valves to get at the tasty prize.

The octobox was invented by aquaculture student Paul Martin at Cornwall College.

Squirt opened two of the three sections of the box and must now learn how to use a lock and key to get inside the third section.

Mr Martin said he came up with the idea during a visit to the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay.
