An investigation has been launched into reports that a fellow prisoner attacked Soham child killer Ian Huntley.
Huntley was reportedly held at knifepoint after being ambushed on his way back to his cell following a meal.
The alleged attacked is believed to have involved a sharpened plastic knife and Huntley was forced to fight for his life to fend off the assault.
The incident comes a month after Huntley's third failed suicide attempt, which left him in a drug-induced coma for 19 hours.
Huntley has now apparently been moved from his suicide-watch cell to another part of Wakefield Prison for his own safety.
The alleged attacker, who has not been named, claimed he was racially abused by the former school caretaker, who was convicted of the 2002 murders of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
A Prison Service spokesman said: "A prisoner at HMP Wakefield has self reported an attack on himself by a prisoner with a plastic knife. He has seemingly sustained no injuries.
"The alleged assailant has made a complaint that the alleged victim has made racist comments to him so a racist incident reporting form has been issued and the incident will be investigated."

I hope they give the guy, that did that, another 10 years in jail ... for not doing the job properly.
It annoys me how that scum whinges about being targetted by other prisoners, he seems to forget that he murdered to young, innocent, girls.
