Teenager admits schoolboy murder

A 15-year-old has pleaded guilty to the murder of an 11-year-old boy who was stabbed to death and dumped in a Greater Manchester park.
Joseph Geeling was beaten, stabbed and then left in Whitehead Park, Bury, on 1 March 2006.

Michael Hamer, who was 14 at the time of the attack, admitted murder before the start of his trial at Manchester Crown Court.

Hamer admitted responsibility for killing Joe at an earlier hearing.

A massive search was launched for Joe, a cystic fibrosis sufferer, after he failed to return home from school.

He had left St Gabriel's High in the afternoon and was last seen by fellow pupils on Manchester Road at about 1600 GMT on the day he died.

His worried parents raised the alarm after he failed to return home to be taken to hospital for treatment for his condition.

Agree, it makes you wonder what is coming next .... it is about time that these young thugs / murderers felt the full force of the Law, none of the rubbish that the ' nanby panby ' dogooders come out with .. make an example of him, to act as a deterrent to others, imo.

Yes, I agree Rocol. They need to be treated as adults, as they do make their own choices and deserve the consequences as others do. This is very unfortunate, and as you said, they need to set an example with these kids to show others what will happen when they commit these vicious crimes.

To see the outrageous stuff kids do today and making the excuse that they may be influenced incorrectly won't cut it anymore. Owning up to your wrong ia admirable, but taking the punishment is warranted
