Schumacher to quit at end of year

Quote:
Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher will retire from Formula One at the end of the season.
The German made the announcement after winning the Italian Grand Prix to reduce title rival Fernando Alonso's lead to just two points.

The Ferrari star's victory was the 90th in a career in which Schumacher has broken almost every F1 record.

He will be remembered as one of the greatest, and most controversial, drivers in the history of the sport.
I will not be sad to see the back of him, his talent is unquestionable but some of his 'tactics' have been nothing short of disgusting, what makes them even worse is that he is the chairman of the drivers safety group.

Agree, and he is best quitting whilst he is still at the top of the tree.

I disagree that he will go down in history as one of the worlds best drivers, I think if his career hadnt been blotted with his 'tactics' he might have. People will say that Ayrton Senna delibrately took other drivers out but he done it twice I think and each time he stated before the race that if he needed to take out his rivals he would, whereas Schumacher has never had the balls to admit what he has done, he has been sneaky and deceiptful. IMO he isnt fit to be compared to the greats of the sport like Senna, Prost, Stewart, Fangio etc. Good riddance to him. We have a good crop of young 'honest' drivers who will keep the sports popularity going for years
