Physical punishment is a no no for me, i think discipline should start at home, i blame the violence from kids on society, both parents usually have to work to make ends meet so they leave their kids at home on their own "latchkey kids" .
Kids need to be listened to and loved they also learn alot from a close family relationship.

I believe it should. Not enough discipline these days. Kids can get away with anything and no amount of talking will stop them..

Discipline is such a complex issue. We all know that to deter an unwanted behavior some form of punishment or behavioral modification is used. However, a large amount of individuals believe there are other ways to instill proper/favorable/desired mannerisms other than physical punishment. I do believe proper character molding should begin at home, but I also believe that a child should not be allowed to act-up at school when he or she wants to. One has to ask the question, "when is a kid past the age for physical punishment?" I remember my mother stopped punishing her children physically at about 13-14 years old (at that age we were headed into senior high school), but in senior high the principal and senior master used physical punishment for various behavioral infractions.

it never did me any harm! the way kids today speak not only to the teachers but police and the generation above them is nothing short of a disgrace, I got a clip round the ear by a bobby for being cheeky to him, got the belt at home and i never did that thing again so IMO bring it back.

i think something should be brought back as there is no disipline anywhere kids are getting away with murders because they are to young to be punished.Disipline seems to have gone through the window and no one seems to care .Used in the correct way not an abusive way i was smacked as a child even had the slipper now and again it didnt do me any harm, and now i have alot of respect for people.Looking back i think it did me good as i knew i had done wrong.
