processor understanding

hey all I have a question concerning processors like the differences between athlon and celeron etc which are better ,faster more reliable etc. I like the athlon processors personally but my bf seems to think his celeron 3000 running at 2.66 ghz is better than my athlon xp 2500+ running at 1.84 we have been debating I think mine wins but does anyone have different opinion please post here with any knowledge you may have about processor performance

To be faire the differance between Intel and AMD is not alot but i would always go for an AMD just because they are slightly faster.

If you have an XP2500 and he has a Cerelon then you will win hamds down as the cerelon is Intel's cheper CPU and therefore not as good
