Just finished watching the movie, and I must say it was not bad at all, it certainly kept very close to the game, especially in the scenes involvong Silent Hill itself, the only major difference is that it was the girls father that was driving the car, not her mother.
The streets of Silent Hill were practically identical to those in the game, even down to the wire mesh fences and gates and the ' Hopscotch ' drawing in the school playground
It was good to see ' Pyramid Head ' in the flesh, he sure looked as mean and evil as he did in the game .. I remember well having to run around the rooms trying to dodge that massive knife of his
THe corridors in both the school and the hotel brought back many memories of opening the wrong doors and coming face to face with some nasty critters, or meeting an instant, untimely death
The eerie atmosphere, from the game, was maintained throughout the movie too, which I thought was a good thing, as it was that which added to the horror of playing the game, and it certainly gave some feeling to the movie too, imo. The only downfall was the lack of mosters in it .. there could have been more.
Overall an enjoyable movie, for me, and it has certainly made me want to blow the dust off the game and give it a re-run, which I shall probably be doing this weekend
I agree about the ending though, it does leave you somewhat confused, and I can't remember how it ended it the game, but shall be checking it out, and also be watching the movie again, to look for some clues as to what we were supposed to imagine.
A decent movie, and some good special effects with a good eerie background sound, best heard in surround sound, especially the beating heart, I had to keep checking that it wasn't coming from me
As with you O.G,
7/10 from me, but very close to being an
8 ;)
