Gears of War New "Halo"

Who all thinks Gears of War could possibly be the next Halo? In far as popularity etc.


I think Gears of War can easily be the next halo for the 360 just because when you play the game its like playing nothing quite like it before. The gameplay, graphics, etc is exactly what you think of when you think next-generation gaming. This game will set the bar for all future games like it.

I think it would be amazing if there would be a trilogy of them just like in Halo.

In my opinion it will be the new game everyone talks about when they talk about 360 and of course Halo 3 won't be forgotten by a long shot but I think if they kept up with the series it will surpass the halo series.

I agree with the statement you made with gears of war being more popular because it is different and halo is just getting too repetitive with things its the 3rd halo so we will see, but there are alot of shooting games out there might be alot of competition ahead for it.

Gears of War beats Halo by a long shot. How could you compare a run and gun fps thats some what repatative to the master piece of gears. The graphics are incredibly perfect, its just beautiful, no crazy pixl's, no blurred picture of whats far away, the in game graphics are just as good as the cut scenes. The characters and story are unforgettable. The online play is just brilliant too. No capture the flag or king of the hill or any stuff like that, just team battles in modes such as: Assasination, where if the leader dies you lose, and Warzone where you can shoot to kill somebody or execute them by curb stomp or chainsaw, and then there's Execution where you shoot or hit them to get them down then you run up to them and chainsaw or curbstomp. The online play is the best and most fun I have ever played in a game before, I mean Halo's just run, shoot, kill. When gears is so much more, most of the time its all teamwork with A.I. or coop with a friend, and you duck and cover more than half of the game too, you don't just rush in and shoot, you have to strategise how your going to defeat your opponent, by hiding behind hundreds of different objects. Don't get me wrong halo's great and all, just to compare it to Gears is like comparing a black and white 10 inch blurry tv to an HDTV widescreen 40 inch.
Compared to gears halo is trash, sorry to say but thats just what I think.

gears of war is deffninatley the new halo. personaly i like gears more than I like halo.

Nirvanamonkey I completely agree with you on your statement. Halo though defiantly is one of the best FPS out there next to Half-Life 1&2 it does not compre to the revolutionary gameplay and graphics of Gears of War.

The story while good in Halo for a FPS is shadowed compared to Gears of War which I think if continued on will be a much better sci-fi story to follow.

I was somewhat dissapointed with Halo 2 because all the previews etc pointed towards "the battle is brought to Earth" which was BS because you only really had one level to play and the rest was a new halo. I think three unless its another situation like that will be on Earth completely which I hope is the case.

Halo is a great series and I can't wait for halo 3, but gears is just like nothing else. When I first watched the trailer for gears and that song was playing in it (mad world) I got goose bumps, honestly. Thanks for agreeing with me though sub.

Yes i agree gears of war looks like a much better game too bad its on xbox 360
